Conveyor slipping: distinguish belt slip from board slip
A board that pauses under the drum does not automatically need a tighter conveyor belt. The board may be sliding over a moving belt, the belt may be slipping on its drive roller, or the drive may have stopped. Each situation changes the next step. Begin with the symptom you can safely observe, then investigate with the power disconnected.

Record whether the conveyor keeps moving when the board stops. Also note whether the machine’s load indicator changes, the drum sound changes, or the feed control appears to intervene. Do not lean into the opening to see a hidden roller. If the relevant movement cannot be observed safely, leave that distinction for an approved service check.
Stop promptly when a board stalls. Do not shove the trailing end, pull from the far side, or reach under the drum. Wait for complete stop, disconnect power, and follow the manual’s method for relieving contact and removing the workpiece.
Check the easy evidence
Once unplugged, inspect the workpiece and accessible conveyor surface. Look for contamination, a damaged belt seam, uneven stock, or a spot where the piece could catch. Return to the manual’s conservative starting procedure with sound abrasive and a suitable scrap piece. Tightening the conveyor repeatedly without identifying the fault can obscure the original setting. Consult the exact tension procedure and permitted range. Do not borrow a screw-turn count from a different sander or from someone using a different conveyor material.
If the belt moves but the board slips, document the grip and workpiece condition. If the belt itself stops while its drive should run, the drive train or controls may need attention. Couplings, motors, and electrical components are not interchangeable diagnostic targets. Internal inspection belongs to the manual’s service procedure or a qualified technician.
Confirm normal feeding
After correcting an identified cause, restore all covers and guards and complete the prescribed test. Use a flat piece with dimensions comfortably inside the machine’s limits. Keep the same orientation and sanding setup while comparing the result, and do not introduce an unusually slick or irregular test board.
Log whether the repair restored continuous feed, whether the surface has a pause mark, and whether belt tracking changed. A machine that feeds only when you help it is not ready for production. Repeated stalls, electrical smells, unusual heat, or a drive that runs intermittently are reasons to stop and contact support rather than compensate at the workpiece.
